Database Administration

The Orchestra database is subject to normal database maintenance. For information about how to perform this maintenance, see the administration guide for the specific database installed on your system. Note that the following activities are important to do periodically for any database:
Rebuilding indexes
Backing up the database
Checking disk space availability
If these administrative duties are neglected, the database can eventually stop working. Backup is especially important for Microsoft SQL Server® databases as the size of the transaction log keeps growing until the database stops working. However, a periodical backup is always imperative to do, because the backup files are the only data sources available when rescuing a crashed database.
For more information about the Orchestra databases, please read the Reference Manual.
