Creating / Editing an Application - Overview

When creating a Surface Application a selection must be made of a:
Surface group (Touch screen, Media display, Positional display, and Ticket layout).
Device type: depending on the Surface group; for example TP Touch/Intro 8, Intro 17 or Vision.
Resolution: For most device types, the resolution is hard coded. Only device types of type Generic allow you as an administrator to select a specific resolution. This is for backward compatibility purposes.
The surface types Touch screen, Media display and Positional display allow a device type called Generic. This type allows the user to either select from a set of pre-defined resolutions for that surface type, or to add custom resolutions.
Surface Applications are created for a specific Operation profile, therefore the next step is:
selecting Operation profile
for displays and tickets: setting Switch page when calling a customer or not
for tickets: select Single or Double ticket length.
setting the number of seconds to Return to start page.
This number is the default; it can also be set individually for each page (by clicking the background). A 0 makes the page stay put, a link or button must be used to return to the start page.
When saving the Surface Application, give it a suitable name, since this name will show up in other places in Orchestra.
Please note that rotation of for example images cannot be properly achieved in any layouts made with browsers IE7 / IE8. The rotation property is accessible but results will be unsatisfying.
